Ryan R. Johnson Producer

Ryan Johnson was born in Redding, California.  He grew up in Boise, Idaho, and attended college at Whittier College in Whittier, California

Ryan R. Johnson started out on the Power Rangers television series as the Green Power Ranger.  He later worked for Mandalay Pictures in physical production and development.

While at Mandalay Pictures he packaged and developed many films, some of which are ‘Into the Blue’, ‘Enemy at the Gates’, ‘Beyond Borders’, ‘Serving Sarah’, ‘The Score’ and ‘Sleepy Hollow’.

After producing the Sundance Film Festival darling ‘The Beat,’ Ryan Johnson Johnson  started the production company Pretty Dangerous Films in 2003, which went into production on 18 films in four years.

Some of the films produced by him are The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things directed by Asia Argento starring Winona Ryder, Peter Fonda, Jeremy Sisto and Asia Argento and was the official selection to the 2004 Cannes Film Festival; The Nickel Children directed by Glenn Klinker starring Tom Sizemore, Tamara Hope, Marsha Thomason and Jeremy Sisto and was featured in Nashville, Palm Beach International, Method Fest, True West and San Diego Film Festivals; Back in the Day starring VingRhames and Ja Rule; The Curse of El Charro for Paramount Home Video starring Andrew Bryniarski and Danny Trejo; 7 MUMMIES for Image Home Video directed by Nick Quested starring Matt Schulze, Cerina Vincent, Danny Trejo, Billy Drago, Adrianne Palicki, Noel Guglielmi, and rapper Noreaga; and Edmond for First Independent and Wild Bunch, a David Mamet drama directed by Stuart Gordon starring William H. Macy, Julia Stiles, Mena Suvari, Dylan Walsh, Denise Richards and Bai Ling, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and Telluride Film Festival and went on to gross nearly 40 million worldwide from a one million dollar budget.

Velocity Pictures

In 2006, Ryan R. Johnson started Velocity Pictures which produced COSMIC RADIO for Indican Pictures, starring Michael Madsen, The Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo, Rider Strong and Wes Studi; H20 EXTREME for Echo Bridge, Entertainment, the extreme water action film starring Chris Carmack and John Schneider, COSTA RICAN SUMMER for First Look, starring Pamela Anderson and Peter Dante.
